- CHANGES TO THE
ADVANCED ULTRALIGHT LIST
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/CCARCS/advancedullist.htm is
the address for the list of aircraft that are "eligible" for registration in
the Advanced Ultralight category. The list has just been updated, and a few
more manufacturers have now stated which engines and landing gear
configurations are supported by their DS10141 statement to Transport Canada.
At the beginning of this latest revision of the Eligible list, there are two
links to the responsibilities of the manufacturer and the pilot. Read
through these, especially the manufacturer’s responsibilities. Some
back-alley "manufacturers" are patently incapable of maintaining the records
and responsibilities that are a requirement of AULA. Also some owners might
have made unapproved changes to their aircraft, disqualifying them for the
category. You do not want to be the buyer of an AULA, new or used, if the
manufacturer has taken a liberal attitude to his responsibilities, or if a
previous owner has modified the plane.
